Challenge
Renovating a two-bedroom, two-bath co-op apartment in a landmark building in West Village, New York City, while navigating structural constraints. The concrete building had limited embedded junction boxes available for lighting and a restricted ceiling height, limiting conventional lighting options. Additionally, the reconfiguration of the kitchen required a solution for exposed MEP risers that had previously been housed within a removed kitchen wall.
Solution
To address the lighting limitations, we designed a shallow coffered ceiling that not only worked within the restricted height but also incorporated hidden LED ambient lighting for a seamless, well-lit environment. In the kitchen, we integrated custom-designed cabinetry with a classic aesthetic, thoughtfully concealing the relocated MEP risers while maintaining the elegance and historical character of the space.
Value Delivered
The renovation successfully balanced modern functionality with timeless design, enhancing both aesthetics and livability. The creative lighting solution provided a well-illuminated yet architecturally cohesive space, while the refined kitchen design maintained the classic charm the client desired. The result is a beautifully restored home that respects the building’s heritage while offering contemporary comfort and efficiency.

I have never worked with someone who had great ideas and vision who could also communicate and executed them in an efficient manner...contractors were impressed with his thorough drawings and problem solving…
