Challenge
The existing interior layout of the home was constrained by a central load-bearing wall that divided the space into two small, rigidly defined areas, limiting functionality and openness. The challenge was to create a spacious, flexible living environment within a compact footprint while upgrading key building systems all within a tight budget and timeline aligned with the client’s move-in date.
Solution
The renovation strategically removed the load-bearing wall and replaced it with a new steel beam, seamlessly supported by columns embedded within the existing walls. This structural approach eliminated the need for visible structural support beneath the beam, resulting in a completely open, unobstructed living area. The transformation introduced a bright, airy space that maximized usability despite the home’s modest size. A highly functional new kitchen, centered around a thoughtfully designed island, enhanced convenience and social engagement for the residents. Additional upgrades, including improvements to the HVAC system and refined interior finishes, elevated the overall comfort and quality of the home.
